Hallie Yust

Hally Yust

At nine years old, Hally was simply enjoying life when a tiny amoeba entered her body and caused an infection. Her family knew they wanted to share her zest and zeal through lifesaving organ donation.

Nine-year-old Hally had a drive to live life in a big way. She had a passion for basketball, water sports and, most important, a love for Jesus. She declared she was going to play basketball in college, become a coach someday, and even try out for the Olympics, and no one doubted that she would. In addition to being a competitive water skier, she enjoyed free diving and snorkeling with her parents, brother and sisters.

Donor Nhue Hoang Nguyen

Nhue “Kevin” Thong Hoang Nguyen

Nhue tragically passed away at only 19 years old. He had never talked about organ donation with his family, but they knew he would want to help save someone else if he could.

Energetic, funny and handsome are just a few words that Nhue’s family use to describe him. When he tragically passed away at only 19 years old, his family made the decision for him to be a donor. “Donation wasn’t something we had ever talked about, but it meant that Nhue would be able to save someone else, so we knew we would say yes,” said his sister Truccie.

Organ donor Cynthia Hardaway and family

Cynthia Hardaway

Cynthia suffered cardiac arrest one day on her way home from work. Her children, who made the brave decision that she should be an organ donor, say it has changed their whole outlook on life.

Cynthia suffered cardiac arrest on New Year’s Day 2014 while coming home from work and was pronounced brain dead at the hospital. Her children, Willie and LaCresha, made the decision for her to be a donor. “I feel that was the best decision we made in our lifetime,” LaCresha said. “It has changed my outlook on life.”
